An enduring classic about the inescapable laws of nature. The central character is a dog called Buck who is living the good life in the South, when he is snatched and transported to the savagery of the Northland. There, the Klondike gold rush has brought out rough basic instincts of survival in men – and dogs. Buck adjusts to the gruelling regime of a sled dog, which almost kills him, but survives to find a new and fulfilling way of life. 

Jack London (1876-1916) was born John Griffith Chaney, and was an American novelist, journalist and social activist.
